About Us

The Federated Challenge^® is a one of a kind fund-raising event, sponsored by Federated Insurance, with proceeds benefitting Minnesota’s three domiciled Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies as well as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.  Federated pays the expenses of the two day event in full so 100 percent of the dollars raised go directly to BBBS. 

Jeff and Marty Fetters are the co-chairs of the Federated Challenge.  Jeff is Chairman and CEO of Federated Insurance and his passion for youth mentoring started early on when he and Marty, signed up to be a Big Couple, through Big Brothers Big Sisters.  They were matched with their Little, Mackenzie, who was 11 years old at the time.  The Fetters stood by Mackenzie’s side through her formative years and helped guide her through her high school years by helping her determine what she wanted to do with her life.  They nurtured Mackenzie’s love for cooking by helping her enroll in culinary school after high school and have since watched her grow and thrive in her career as a head chef at a local Country Club.

Federated employees also support this important cause.  Many employees themselves are Bigs and close to 100 employees plan and participate in the Federated Challenge each year.  It is common to see Federated employees engaged and involved in different activities that raise awareness and funds for the cause.
